Joseph Harrison steps on his favorite four-year-old, a mare by Scooter Kat out of a Metallic Cat mare owned by Brett and Margo Davis. Before getting to work he makes a point worth remembering: sometimes the best thing you can do for a young horse is give them a break. Joseph gives his young ones about a week completely off, then eases them back with three days a week of light exercise before asking them to perform again. Often when they come back they are even better than when you left them. He also breaks down how his approach to practice changes depending on whether he is on a rodeo horse or a show horse, two different jobs that require two different mindsets in the pen.
