Joseph Harrison starts the morning by talking about his horses and how he approaches getting them ready to rope. He starts out on a horse that he does not need to rope on every day, explaining that this is a horse he mainly ropes on for himself. With 24 horses on the property, including his helpers’ horses, Harrison is intentional about how many horses he keeps in his daily rotation. He talks about making sure he only has as many horses as he can realistically ride and keep up with. Harrison also shares the story behind one of his horse’s nubby ears. The horse was born during a storm when temperatures were extremely low, resulting in frostbite to his ears. That is why he does not have the tips of his ears today.
