Clay O'Brien Cooper: Practicing Right, Building Muscle Memory, and Trap vs. Air
Lessons From Legends

Clay O'Brien Cooper makes a point that not enough ropers take seriously: throwing a lot of loops does not mean you are getting better. If you are practicing the wrong way you are only building bad muscle memory, and that is harder to fix than starting from scratch. The goal is to practice correctly and then be able to transfer what you are doing on the ground to the back of a horse. Clay points out that there is no excuse for doing it wrong with the amount of quality instruction available, including the video library at Roping.com. He also breaks down the difference between the trap style and roping steers out of the air, two distinct approaches with different applications.
