Inside the String: Meet Blane Cox’s Rope Horses

3m 5s
Meet “Leon,” one of the most meaningful horses in Blane Cox’s string. A 7-year-old gelding by a Freckles Playboy x Smart Little Lena stallion and out of a Driftwood-bred mare that Blane won at a college rodeo, Leon was raised and trained by Blane and his dad—making him a true family horse from start to finish.
Blane describes Leon as honest, solid, and all heart—the kind that’s always eager to please and built to perform. He’s already proven himself in the Cinch Timed Event Championships, scoring sharp and staying consistent run after run. Leon’s training and tuning depend on the event and setup, but his reliability never wavers. With his laid-back temperament and strong scoring ability, Leon has earned a special place in Blane’s barn—and his family’s hearts.
